A former military base, it underwent extensive renovations to become today's Fort Ommeroth and has since become a popular base for group tours. The guesthouse is located on approximately 34 hectares of land. Ommeroth Estate is home to numerous animals as well as people.

The entire route over the ridge from Bödingen to Waldbröl leads through beautiful forests. Shortly before this point there is a large memorial stone on the side of the path. Above this, behind the small staircase, is the former execution site of the Windeck district.
