Splendid refuge, excellently managed, the food is excellent!

The Giaf refuge is located at 1400 meters above sea level. It is one of the support points for entering the Friulian Dolomites park from the north.

Spectacular place and starting point for various excursions

Giaf Alpine refuge, a hiking destination and base for climbs to the peaks, the Bianchi ring and the connecting crossing with the other refuges in the area: Flaiban Pacherini refuge, Casera Valmenon refuge, Pordenone refuge, Padova refuge.

We climbed up from Lake Antorno. A beautiful steep path, first through forests and then along a meadow landscape up to the hut. No shower, two toilets in the whole hut, a communal sink. Internet in front of the hut. A bit sparse in terms of sockets, but charging is free. The food was OK. The hut staff were very friendly. We had our camp right under the roof, very romantic 😂

I found the Eremo dei Romiti to be a place with a soul. A soul given to it by the two managers, wife and husband, who took it over, where authenticity and real love for the territory are the founding values. Inside, around the fireplace, there are benches and many books that you can read while contemplating the view you can see from the window.
