A local legend tells of a craftsman from Belvì who had the idea of creating metal birdhouses, scattering them throughout the woods. Here he was the victim of a prank by "Maschinganna", a demon of the Sardinian folk tradition who enjoyed playing pranks on those who passed by, who caused the houses to rust and ruined, making them inhospitable to birds.
