Update: After 20 years, the Rüdesheim cycle path is finally to be completed. Press release from Hessen Mobil dated November 28, 2025: "B 42: Hessen Mobil closes cycle path gap in Rüdesheim." The 300-meter temporary path, planned for 10 years, is divided into three construction phases: Phase 1: 2025/2026: Construction work around the railway line. Phase 2: February 2026, construction phase with a partial closure of the B 42. Phase 3: Until the end of June 2026, construction phase with partial closures of the roadway; the B 42 will remain open in both directions via traffic lights.

The Rhine Cycle Route near Rüdesheim is a true highlight for cyclists who love nature, the romantic Rhine, and panoramic views. This section is part of the EuroVelo 15 long-distance cycle route and leads through the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley – with spectacular views and cultural stops along the way.

Until the beginning of the 20th century, Rheinallee was largely undeveloped. The almost 1-kilometer-long, idyllic stretch of riverbank, with its mighty rows of trees on both sides, was a popular place for strolling. Even today, the Rhine's banks are still a popular place for a stroll.
