Dating back to the 13th century, the old Fantorno inn was located on the most popular route that connected Bologna and Florence. Over time the routes have changed and the place has lost importance, to the point of being forgotten. The old tavern was probably destroyed in the 19th century, perhaps set on fire by brigands dissatisfied with the service they received. Today it is possible to find, towards Cà di Fresco, a new and functioning Fantorno refuge.
