Sassinoro is a little-known village, but well worth a visit for the beauty of the surrounding landscapes. It stands on a rocky promontory at an altitude of 783 m, in the heart of the stunning Tammaro Valley.

Located in the heart of the historic center, this mural dedicated to hot air balloons celebrates one of Fragneto Monforte's most recognizable features: the famous International Hot Air Balloon Festival, which has colored the Sannio skies every autumn since 1987. The work depicts children, light figures, and hot air balloons flying over stylized hills, evoking the sense of wonder and freedom that characterizes the gathering.

The Ducal Palace of Fragneto Monforte is the village's iconic building, the former residence of the Montalto family, who ruled the area for centuries. The current structure dates largely to the 18th century and retains elegant rooms, internal courtyards, and panoramic views of the valley. The palace is linked to the legend of the painting of the Madonna della Rondinella, which miraculously remained intact despite fires and historical events.

The heart of Ariano Irpino is the Norman castle which is located in the highest part of the town and is surrounded by lots of greenery.

The Ducal Palace of Fragneto Monteforte is located in a beautiful square. There are several benches looking towards the panoramic terrace. It is a perfect place to admire the hilly landscape of the Tammaro and Sannio valleys.

The origin of the name of this place is debated. It seems to have been built near a cave where there was a small sanctuary dedicated to the Archangel Michael. Other interpretations refer to a cave dedicated to the goddess Minerva (Cripta Minervae).

City famous for its ceramics and for its Norman castle which bears witness to the antiquity of these places. It is the second most populous municipality in the province of Avellino after the capital.
