Monteleone di Puglia, the highest municipality in the region at 842 meters above sea level, offers one of the most picturesque viewpoints in the Daunia region. The village is intimate and welcoming, with cobbled alleys, small squares, and views overlooking cultivated hills and winding ridges. It's a historic section of the Mediofondo Primavera, often raced against the clock, but also perfect for taking it at your own pace to enjoy the views of the valley and the mountains between Campania and Puglia.

Monteleone di Puglia is the highest town in the region, located at an altitude of 842 meters from where it dominates the upper Cervaro valley. From here the view extends 360 degrees towards the valley, the Dauni Mountains and Irpinia, and it is a crossing point of the Eurovelo 5 bicycle itinerary.

The origin of the name of this place is debated. It seems to have been built near a cave where there was a small sanctuary dedicated to the Archangel Michael. Other interpretations refer to a cave dedicated to the goddess Minerva (Cripta Minervae).

City famous for its ceramics and for its Norman castle which bears witness to the antiquity of these places. It is the second most populous municipality in the province of Avellino after the capital.
