Very nice, small place with great half-timbered houses. A little out of the way. You definitely have to go and see it.

The half-timbered town of Schlitz is worth a visit, especially at Christmas time. With the largest Christmas candle, the old town is simply wonderful. On the Advent weekend, a Christmas market takes place here under the motto: "Schlitz Christmas, a poem under the large candlelight" Schlitz is also known for its traditional costume festival.

The market fountain used to serve as a well to supply water to the town center. The stone trough was built in its current form in the 16th century. The traces of its original use can still be clearly seen on its upper edge. Iron bands and lead were installed in 1749. Later, the springs in the fields were captured and their water was fed into the stone fountain trough through wooden pipes. The pipes were connected to each other by iron sleeves. The fountain figure of St. George was erected in 1930. With it, the Schmidt family, who owned the dye works, created a monument in their home town. There is no special connection between St. George and the history of Schlitz; the figure is known in the local dialect as "Bornschorsch."
