The Merseburg-Meuschau lock, also known as the Meuschau lock, is a lock on the Saale federal waterway. It is located at Saale km 113.50 in Merseburg. The lock was built in 1820. The use of the Saale for transporting goods or people has been documented since 981. Chronicles of shipping on the Saale report that the water of the Saale river was dammed as early as the second half of the 14th century. The dammed water was used to operate mills or for rafting. The first craft in Bernburg that was reported was a mill on the Saale.
