Very beautiful, but be careful with the loose gravel base.

Descending through a beautiful beech forest from the SS Trinità parking lot, you reach the Cippi Papalini. Two centuries ago, they were the border between the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and the Papal States, now Abruzzo and Lazio. We are also at the intersection of the three provinces of Rome, L'Aquila, and Frosinone.

This is a large picnic area with shelter located on a hill overlooking a volume. Volubrums are artificial water basins used to water animals. The refuge is typical of the Apennines: not guarded but managed by local clubs who keep it tidy and clean. It can be reached with an easy walk from Campo Staffi.

Monte Autore, with its 1,854 meters of altitude, is the third peak of the Simbruini mountains. It can be reached with an easy walk from Campo dell'Osso, also suitable for families and less fit people. It is a very panoramic peak, which offers the gaze a broad view of the Apennines: from the Gran Sasso, to Terminillo, to the nearby Mount Velino up to the Meta mountains further south. The walk to the top is possible in any season, in winter with snowshoes. Autumn is the best season, when the Simbruini woods are tinged with multiple colours.

Highly recommended for those who are really good at E-MTB: for those who are not, like me, I would say that it is really difficult and dangerous, even if highly scenic. At the limit: you push the bike by hand...

The word "Volubro" indicates, in Lazio, the lake basins with surface outlets used for watering livestock. The Volubro del Ceraso is located close to the border with the Abruzzo region, a short distance from Monte Tarino and the source of the Aniene river; inside it is possible to observe a large colony of "Carassius Auratus": goldfish!

The Vali di Monte Salviano is located at 902 m above sea level within the homonymous nature reserve. In 2000 the work entitled "Teatro della Germinazione" was installed, a sculpture by the artist Pietro Cascella.

The Campo Ceraso refuge is an unattended refuge. It is located at a height of 1561 m, in the high Fioio Valley between Mount Tarino and the Serra di San Michele.
