From here the real ascent of Monte Catria begins, a little more and you will be at the top

The view when you reach the summit is not surprising, because the summit cross - which seems almost gigantic and can therefore be seen from afar - crowns Monte CATRIA and is unmistakable. But despite its enormous mass, the cross erected here does not seem overwhelming at all; in fact, due to the steel framework construction (the most famous example of which is the Eiffel Tower in Paris), it appears almost delicate.

On the way down you pass under the Fonte Avellana cliff, if you have time to look up...

You reach the highest point of the road from which with a short climb you can reach the refuge where the road ends. Continuing downhill in the woods, take the road that leads to the monasteries of Fonte Avellana. The descent is quite steep but on easy terrain, the road is all gravel up to Fonte Avellana.

The Vernosa Refuge offers an excellent bivouac point, both externally with your own tent and internally upon reservation. It is located near the last path that leads to the top of Catria. Attached is a photo with the information available on the shelter door.
