Palazzo Ducale is the main monument of the city of Urbino and one of the most interesting artistic-architectural examples of the Italian Renaissance. It is home to the National Gallery of the Marche and the Lapidary Archaeological Museum. The palace, owned by the Italian State, is located in the center of the ancient city of Urbino, flanked by other monuments such as the Cathedral and the Sanzio Theater. It is one of the most visited monuments in the region and is a place for museum, musical and artistic events. It was Federico da Montefeltro's most ambitious project, which starting from 1454 saw the Florentine architect Maso di Bartolomeo, the Dalmatian Luciano Laurana and Francesco di Giorgio alternate, who worked until the duke's death (1482).

The Furlo Pass (also known as Gola del Furlo) is a gorge located in the Marche region of central Italy. This spectacular gorge is located along the ancient Via Flaminia, near the Candigliano river, a tributary of the Metauro. The Furlo gorge was formed between the Pietralata (889 m) and Paganuccio (976 m) mountains by the erosion of the Candigliano river. It has been included in a State Nature Reserve since 2001 and is often promoted to tourists in the region as the "Grand Canyon of Italy". The Roman emperor Vespasian had a tunnel built here to facilitate passage on the Via Flaminia at the narrowest point of the gorge. Next to it is a similar, but smaller tunnel dating back to Etruscan times. The Roman tunnel has a length of 38.30 meters and a height of 5.95 meters.

The construction of the current palace is linked to an older palace of the Counts of Urbino in the area of the current north wing, whose walls have been preserved. This older palace probably dates from the late 14th century.

The visit is paid, like most of the Italian museums, but the price is more than justified by some works inside such as the ideal city and the paintings by Raphael and Piero della Francesca

The Gola del Furlo State Natural Reserve is a natural reservoir to protect and enhance whose management has been entrusted to the Province of Pesaro and Urbino. A decision taken by the Ministry of the Environment on February 6, 2001. The establishment of the Reserve represents a recognition of the environmental and naturalistic peculiarities of the area, which entails the advantage of offering the territory greater opportunities for protection and safeguarding, for example rehabilitation and restoration interventions, in a unified program, which will allow to make better enjoyable this paradise of our province has always been preserved and supervised by the local population. In short, the Reserve not only gives economic advantages to enhance the whole area (from flora, fauna, to rural buildings), but also a unitary design and greater controls for its protection and making it accessible to all. The Reserve is an authentic paradise, crossed by the Candigliano river which insinuates itself between the imposing rocky walls of the magnificent Gola del Furlo, where the suggestion of the landscape is combined with a prodigious natural wealth that boasts truly unique specimens of flora and fauna. This territory has an extraordinary importance from the landscape, geological, geomorphological, paleontological, floristic and faunistic point of view. from: reservagoladelfurlo.it

To reach Urbino from Rimini you will cross two very interesting villages, which present very well preserved medieval castles: Montefiore and Tavoleto. The Giro does not present particular difficulties in altitude, from Rimini are about 60 kilometres (120 if you also consider the return; basically there are three uphill climbs, one of about seven kilometres that goes up to Montefiore with a maximum gradient of seven percent, then the climb towards Tavoleto about four kilometres long with a maximum gradient of eight percent and the last ascent to Urbino, about nine kilometres long with slopes that do not exceed six percent. Good ride!
