Poggio boasts a characteristic spiral-shaped urban layout, a network of narrow granite-paved streets, concentric with the square in front of the Church of San Niccolò located at the top of the village, from where one can enjoy a splendid view of Marciana and Mount Capanne.

Marciana, whose origins date back to 35 BC, is located on a hill 375 metres above sea level and is one of the oldest towns, rich in historical and archaeological evidence.
