The Marienbrücke is the last bridge over the Inn River before its confluence with the Danube, just under a kilometer to the east, and the only road bridge over the Inn River in the surrounding area. The nearest road bridge is located upstream in Schärding, 19 km away. A closure of the Marienbrücke would mean a detour of approximately 35 km for a trip from the old town to the Inn River. Marienbrücke as a bridge is not particularly beautiful or interesting, but as a viewing platform it is an extraordinary place. Great view of the city and Inn. From the Innstadt we have an unforgettable cityscape with the cathedral.
