Inaugurated in 1926 by the Ferrovie Meridionali Sarde, in what was then called Palmas Suergiu, the station served as a hub to facilitate the passage of mining materials that were extracted in the area. After having experienced a flourishing period in the mid-1930s, with the construction of a second track, with the decline in income from the local mining sector the station began to lose importance until it was decommissioned in 1974. Today it lies in a state of abandonment, and serves as a stop for the ARST buses, which over time absorbed the Sardinian Southern Railways.
