Pinkafeld, a beautiful town in the Oberwart district of Burgenland, currently has a population of 5,890 (as of January 1, 2025). The town is idyllically situated on the Pinka River, which also bears Pinkafeld's name. With a history dating back to the Neolithic period, Pinkafeld was an important artisan town in the Middle Ages, where important privileges such as market and toll rights were obtained. In the 18th century, the economy flourished, primarily thanks to the cloth makers and leather workers who shaped the town's activities. Today, the HTL Pinkafeld, the largest vocational school in Burgenland, is a central part of the educational landscape. Politically, Pinkafeld is under the leadership of Mayor Kurt Maczek and Vice Mayor Adrian Kubat of the SPÖ. Pinkafeld boasts a whole series of shrines that remind us of the history and traditions of our region. These small stone crosses or chapels are often located at crossroads or in places where something important happened. Each shrine tells its own story: whether in memory of a deceased person or as atonement for a misfortune. They are a part of our traditions and encourage us to reflect on the past. It's worth pausing at such a place and enjoying the silence.

Built in the 12th century by the "Ziegern", Ziegersberg Castle in Schlag near Zöbern could certainly tell many stories. It has been owned by the Brunner family since 1917. Today, Elisabetta Brunner runs the business with the help of her brother Massimiliano. The guest rooms have been newly renovated. The garden in front of the castle invites you to relax and unwind. Guests aged 16 and over are welcome in the castle.
