A unique little church built directly on the beach. Legend has it that it was built by Neapolitan coral traders who survived a shipwreck. Inside, various sculptures, statues, and decorations carved directly into the rock face are featured. There's an entrance fee (and there's also a nearby parking lot if you arrive by car).

The castle, used as a museum, where Gioacchino Murat was imprisoned, was built in 1492 by Ferrante d'Aragona. It is a quadrangular structure overlooking the sea on one side and surrounded by a deep moat on the other. Inside there are remains of a sculpture by Antonio Canova (the original was destroyed during the passage of Giuseppe Garibaldi, only a part representing a helmet remained intact). Access to the interior was via a drawbridge between two towers, now replaced by a traditional limestone bridge. The castle is dedicated to Murat, who was shot here on October 13, 1815. Built in Baroque style in the historic center of the city in the 16th century on top of a pre-existing church, the place of worship is dedicated to San Giorgio Martire and to the Virgin Mary, as is engraved on the architrave of the beautiful Baroque portal dating back to 1632. Inside the church you can see a statue attributed to Pietro Bernini and the funerary plaque of Gioacchino Murat, who is buried in the basement of the church, where he was buried after his death by firing squad in the local castle. The church also houses the remains of Antonino Anile, a scholar, anatomist and Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Italy, originally from Pizzo. The Church of San Rocco and San Francesco da Paola in Pizzo was built in the 16th century in gratitude for being saved from a terrible plague epidemic that had struck the city. In 1973 it was recognized as a parish and dedicated to San Rocco and San Francesco di Paola. With the unification of Italy it was used as a barracks and then as a hospital. The earthquake of 1905 partially destroyed the upper part of the high wall structure of the church, so it was rebuilt in 1907 with the participation of the entire population.
