Velden is a market town with about 9100 inhabitants.

The Church of the Assumption of Mary – also called "Maria Pulst" – is located in the village of the same name, Pulst, on the southern slope of the Glan Valley. First mentioned in a deed of donation to the Order of St. John in 1263, this church most likely dates back to the 11th century. From the churchyard, one enjoys a beautiful view of the Glan Valley. Unfortunately, the church was closed today. Located at Schillerplatz in Feldkirchen—about 50 meters from the market square—is this original fountain, inviting you to pause and take a closer look. On the one hand, this fountain features several colorfully painted bicycles and, on the other, several metal figures engaged in various "break activities"—a very, very nice place for a long break.
