The Gravina di Laterza is a canyon more than 200 meters deep and 12 kilometers long, which is part of the Terra delle Gravine Regional Park. It is one of the largest ravines in Europe, it is made up of limestone rocks eroded by water and has caves, pinnacles and other suggestive formations.

Laterza is a municipality in the province of Taranto, known for the traditional bread obtained from the use of local flour, and for the famous Laterza majolica, to which a museum has also been dedicated. A few kilometers from the town is the Gravina di Laterza, one of the largest in Europe and which houses a LIPU oasis that protects various species of birds.
