Rest stop at the end of the Cedec Valley at the foot of Gran Zebrù, Cevedale, and Pizzo Tresero. An initial refuge, destroyed during the Great War, was rebuilt in 1926 and dedicated to the memory of Luigi E. Pizzini, a renowned Milanese mountaineer. Renewed and renovated in 1982 thanks to the legacy of Mrs. Mayr Frattola, it took the new name "Pizzini-Frattola" in memory of Alpine General Carlo Frattola and his son Augusto, who died on the Cima Grande di Lavaredo.

An excellent base for the 13-peak traverse. Unfortunately, the refuge is currently closed, and it's unclear when it will be renovated. The bivouac, which sleeps six, is still useful, but it's a bit run-down.

The refuge is located in front of the Forni Glacier and is named after Cesare Branca, a lawyer and mountaineer from Milan. It was built between 1932 and 1934 by the Milan section of the CAI following a donation by Giuseppina Branca, sister of the deceased mountaineer. The project is by the engineer Cesare De Micheli.

The Cesare Branca Refuge is located in the heart of the Ortles-Cevedale group in a strategic position that makes it ideal for those who want to follow the itineraries in the surrounding area. It is managed by the CAI of Milan and offers refreshments and overnight stays.

La Pala, a 45° hanging glacier facing east. in this portion of the climb you have to be very careful about the presence of live ice which often freezes out in the late season. Even in the case of heavy snow, it must be kept in mind that it will be exposed to the sun from early in the morning, therefore it is advisable to tackle it downhill as early as possible.
