To the right, the trail leads to the "SENTIERO ALPINISTICO TRE AMICI," which, according to bergsteigen.com, is supposed to be more difficult. But I wasn't wearing a helmet, it had rained the night before, and there are supposed to be steep grassy slopes, and I could still feel the effects of the three Campari Spritzers from the night before. So I continued straight ahead. From here, it's basically just steep walking terrain.

Unfortunately, the path to the Madonna del Rio was very overgrown during our stay. It was also not an easy path! In places it was very steep and very slippery!

From the path, at a table, you can see a detour that leads to a small promontory, from which you can admire Salò from above and the western shore of Lake Garda nearby. There is a bench to sit in the sun and enjoy the view, while in the shade there is a table to have a snack.

At almost 1,600 m, Monte Pizzocolo is the highest elevation at the south-western end of Lake Garda and the panorama from the summit is accordingly magnificent. On a clear day, the view extends far into the Po Valley and to the north, the glacial mountains Adamello and Presanella shine.

A beautiful old chapel, great for hiking, the little "Rio Valle" meanders through nature, and there's a stunning waterfall cascading out of the mountain. A refreshing break for both people and animals. Sturdy footwear is recommended as some of the paths are steep and slippery.
