Small harbour with many sailing boats - beautiful perspective in the evening with the mountains in the back.

Imposing rock blocks that the Mèbre river has shaped by eroding in the layers of molasses, a friable rock made of consolidated sands. In a distant time, this rock was used to build some important buildings, including Lausanne Cathedral. Over time, « Le Pierre à Quatre sous », so named because of its low value, was replaced by other building materials.

Nice view of Vufflens with the Alps in the background if the weather permits. You can often see Mont Blanc as well.

Bridge over the Venoge

The Echandens refuge is located in the Côte woods to the east of the Echandens village. With a capacity of 80 places, it has a stove, two small fridges and a fireplace. No crockery is provided. The exterior area of the refuge is privatized if rented. It is available to the public when the refuge is not rented. It consists of several fixed tables, a covered grill and a fire area with a cauldron tripod. https://echandens.ch/refuge/

Towards Lausanne it is of course a nice descent. Gollion is at an altitude of 500m, here we are at an altitude of 420m.

The place is large and cosy. I pass often there and most of the time there's nobody so you can give it a try if you want to use the tables or cover.
