The road is blocked by a landslide. So take the path on the right that runs alongside the blocked path. Go down, jump over the stream and continue the tour. Do not go forward.

At its end, the Lagarina valley drastically narrows its slopes and forms the Chiusa di Ceraino. In just over 100 meters of width, the Adige and the state road that leads to Trento pass. After the locks, the Adige flows into the plain and the landscape opens up rapidly.

Starting from the center of Monte, a hamlet of Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, it is possible to reach Fort Mollinary. Although it is in a state of abandonment and largely destroyed due to the shelling and bombing of the Second World War, it is still worth visiting to admire its particular architecture and the unique panorama of the Adige valley. Built during the Habsburg rule between 1849 and 1852, with Sant'Ambrogio stone coming from the underlying quarries, the fort had the task of guarding the Austrian border in the strategic area of the Adige strait.

In reality it is very possible to access Fort Monte (Mollinary), as also demonstrated by the photos attached to the report. It is an access practiced by many hikers in all seasons, and I am not aware of any particular risks. Area of extreme scenic (and historical) interest. The ex-military road that goes up from Ceraino is particularly recommendable, where strong precautions are necessary if traveled by bike due to exposure.

At Ceraino the valley narrows a lot. The rocky walls let only the Adige, a road and the cycle path pass. After the lock, the plain opens up.
