Great bivouac. Extraordinary 360° views. Restrooms are even provided, albeit in a slightly rustic manner, but with the most beautiful views. Come early. This bivouac can only accommodate 6 people. There were 9 of us so as not to leave anyone out in the cold. A big thank you again to dear Enrico.

A very pleasant night on Monday, August 11, 2025. We slept comfortably with 7 people. A waterfall with potable water is accessible 13 minutes from this refuge: follow the H2O trail and the blue dots to get there.

The Carmagnola bivouac was set up by the Municipality of Acceglio and the volunteers of the CAI Carmagnola in 2017. Not far from here, you can still see the old refuge set up in 1973 on the ruins of a former barracks that today is abandoned due to repeated acts of vandalism that have made the refuge unusable. In the bivouac you can find 10 beds with mattresses, pillows and blankets, the internal table with bench and stools and an area with a shelf for cooking. Outside there is also a table and a station for basic bicycle repairs. The effort to get up here is certainly well rewarded by the incredible panorama that surrounds you, we recommend that you take a moment to contemplate it.

In the Upper Ubaye valley, the Chambeyron refuge is located on the shores of Lake Premier, at the foot of the Brec de Chambeyron which rises to 3,389 meters. This refuge, in a preserved mineral nature, invites you to disconnect. We can go there to do "nothing" except look, listen, feel... Enjoy the beauty of the place. You will meet hikers because there are many routes around the refuge. Mountaineers go to the Brec de Chambeyron or the Aiguilles de Chambeyron. For mountain bike enthusiasts, Haute-Ubaye is a great place! The refuge is a stage of many raids or loops of variable duration in Ubaye or between Queyras, Val Maïra and Mercantour. Or at the crossing of the Alps!
