The gatehouse of Muhr am See, built in 1752, is the landmark of the village. The previous gatehouse from 1551 was part of the village fortifications with a rampart and moat. The gatehouse was inhabited until 1960, when it was raised in 1982 to allow larger vehicles to pass through.
