The ancient sanctuary was built in the first half of the 13th century and is located near the Agogna stream. Legend has it that the Madonna appeared here in the 13th century to save a little girl who was about to drown in the swollen stream. It is dedicated to unborn life; in fact, mothers from the area come here to ask for a blessing for their children.

One of the few cafés we found in this deserted area, with a few places that seem quite deserted. The young owner is very friendly and happy to speak English. The customers seem surprised to see tourists and are interested in our bicycles. Across the street is one of the typical Italian Baroque churches, which we are less fond of. It's a shame about the beautiful brick building, which probably had a different interior in the past.

The Chiesa di San Martino Vescovo is the parish church of Tromello, located in the province of Pavia and belonging to the diocese of Vigevano. Above the portals is a large painting depicting Saint Martin and the Poor Man. The adjacent square bell tower is divided into several levels and has an elegant cupola. Interior: The interior of the church consists of three naves with pillars supporting arches. Notable works of art include: An altarpiece depicting Our Lady of the Rosary, painted by Guglielmo Caccia. Tromello is located on the right bank of the Terdoppio stream and was indicated in ancient times as a crossroads on the route of the Via Romea, which from Pavia joins Gaul. The historical route of the Via Francigena passes through the centre of the city, coming from Mortara and then going to Pavia.

The Strada Nuova in Pavia is a historic street dating back to Roman times. The name “Strada Nuova” does not suggest it, but it is actually the oldest street in Pavia. The street is 1,195 meters long and runs from the Ponte Coperto to the Castello Visconteo. The Roman street plan is still clearly visible in present-day Pavia. The Strada Nuova is particularly lively and rich in shops and boutiques.
