Beautiful park, well designed and well maintained: meadows, wooded areas and above all waters... streams, irrigation ditches, wooden paths are a beautiful example of how to best use ancient land in a special position.

In the left annex of the main building there is a restaurant "Il Doge", in the right annex a small carriage and weapons museum, as well as a relatively large castle chapel in Baroque style dedicated to St. Andrew, which was decorated by Giuseppe Torretti and his collaborators Francesco Bonazza and Pietro Baratta . In front of it, the former stable buildings run in a semicircle, only interrupted by the former driveway. This entrance, a bridge, is decorated with figures; below is a pond. In 1954, Ernest Hemingway was a guest of the Kechler family, who owned the villa at the time.

The journey to Villa Manin is already an eye-catcher: you drive about 2 kilometers straight towards the villa, which makes it seem even more impressive than it already is. Today Villa Manin is a haven for modern art. The stately property of Villa Manin was built in the 17th century in the style of a country villa in Passariano, a district of the municipality of Codroipo near Udine. The builders belonged to the Venetian noble family Manin, from which the last Doge of Venice also came: Ludivico Manin. When Napoleon Bonaparte conquered the Republic of Venice in 1797, Villa Manin became his residence and the headquarters of the French troops. Due to the Manin family's loss of power, they ran into financial difficulties, which led to the decline of the noble seat in the 19th century and ultimately to its sale. In 1969, Villa Manin was acquired by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and developed into a center of contemporary art. The villa consists of a central structure in which the living areas were located and two outbuildings (arcades) which were used as utility rooms. Today (especially on weekends) the courtyard in front of the villa, as well as the arcades themselves, serve, among other things, for antique and plant markets, tastings of regional products and various musical events. In the interior of the villa, in addition to the exhibitions, the magnificent entrance hall with its elaborate frescoes (by Louis Dorigny (1654-1742)) and the chapel (Domenico Rossi (1657-1737)), which is dedicated to the Apostle Andrew, are also worth seeing . As a number of art prints show, the huge, walled park was part of the property from the beginning and was originally laid out according to Baroque specifications. Today the park is more like a landscape garden and, in addition to its old trees, offers visitors a variety of botanical rarities. When walking along the mimosa or magnolia avenue, you will come across enormous black poplars, Lebanese cedars, ginkgos, Japanese sickle firs and Himalayan pines.

"Villa Manin di Passariano is a Venetian villa located in Passariano di Codroipo (province of Udine), a monumental architectural complex built in the sixteenth century at the behest of the Friulian nobleman Antonio Manin who, after losing his dominion of the seas, concentrated on the resources offered by the mainland, a farm and placing a manor house in the center. Home of the last doge of Venice, Ludovico Manin, Napoleon Bonaparte lived there for about two months in 1797 with Giuseppina Beauharnais. Here many talks were conducted for the stipulation of the treaty between France and Austria known as the Treaty of Campoformio (October 17, 1797). The villa, restored since the 1960s, was the site of a contemporary art center from 2004 to 2008 and hosts international exhibitions. " Cit. https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_Manin

Villa Manin is a grandiose and harmonious eighteenth-century complex, now home to important international art exhibitions. It is one of the largest Venetian villas in Italy and was the prestigious home of the Manin nobles, including Lodovico, the last doge of the Republic of Venice. It was here that, in 1797, Lodovico had to witness the signing of the Treaty of Campoformido with which Napoleon decreed the end of the Serenissima.
