폴첸이고는 리벤차 강의 수원지와 카르니알프 산맥 기슭 사이에 자리 잡은 이탈리아에서 가장 아름다운 마을 중 하나입니다. 역사적인 중심부는 베네치아 스타일의 고풍스러운 궁전들이 우아하게 얽혀 있으며, 이는 폴첸이고 영주 귀족 가문의 명성을 증명합니다. 좁은 골목길을 걷다 보면 마치 시간이 멈춘 듯한 분위기를 느낄 수 있으며, 언덕 꼭대기에서 마을을 내려다보는 중세 성의 유적이 그 중심을 이룹니다. 심장 박동과 같은 곳은 플레비시토 광장이지만, 가장 큰 매력은 물과의 공생 관계에 있습니다. 운하, 오래된 물레방아, 작은 다리들이 그림 같은 풍경을 만들어냅니다. 멀지 않은 곳에 있는 고르가초와 산티시마 강의 수원지는 거의 비현실적인 청록색 물을 제공하여, 역사적인 아름다움과 자연을 찾는 사람들에게 이 마을을 필수적인 방문지로 만듭니다.

Maniago Castle is a 12th-century military structure located on the slopes of Mount Jôf, dominating the town. It was built to resolve the problems facing the Patriarchate of Aquileia following the donation of its lands to Patriarch Rodoaldo by Emperor Otto II. The distance between the estates and Aquileia made their administration difficult, especially with the formation of the large fiefdom of Spilimbergo, the consolidation of the Sestensi holdings in the Cellina Valley, those of Millstatt Abbey in the territory of Maniago Libero, and the settlement of the Polcenigo family in Mizza. Therefore, the construction of a castle was necessary, and above all, a "custoria," or "residence fiefdom." During the Turkish invasion of 1467, the walls were reinforced, but after being abandoned in the early 16th century and the earthquakes of 1511 and 1575, the castle began to decline. A fantastic place to explore both by bike and on foot. A lovely walk up the San Floriano hill overlooking the village of Polcenigo is also a lovely experience. The scenery is enchanting.

The center of Maniago is characterized by its large square, which is one of the typical large squares found in Friuli towns. The interior of the square is a pedestrian zone. Restaurants and bars invite you to linger.
