Caution: If you continue northeast from here, i.e., over the ridge, be sure to note that the descent to Matsch, which was marked as of September 25, no longer exists. There's a new descent much further ahead (unfortunately, there's no signpost and it's not yet marked on the map; I've reported it to Komoot). Technically, the terrain is easy, except that after the Hochjoch, the path is barely recognizable, so you have to rely on the stone markers and Komoot for guidance. If you want to be on the safe side, take the route from the Tarscher Kreuz.

Magnificent views of the surrounding alpine landscape in the Upper Vinschgau Valley can be enjoyed from the summit of the Watles, with its modern summit cross at 2,555 meters. There are two routes to the summit, the more scenic, albeit longer, being the route via the Galtberg.
