The sculpture "Sola Gratia" by sculptor Magnus Kleine-Tebbe was inaugurated in Groß Denkte with a celebratory service. This fourth and final sculpture completes an unusual art project in the Braunschweig region, intended to commemorate the central tenets of the Reformation, the so-called Soli: Jesus Christ, grace, faith, and the Holy Scriptures. Not quite correctly located... In addition to the tourist information in the town hall, there is also information directly at the town hall (always accessible). To the left of the town hall there are also bike racks, benches and toilets (don't know if they are always open). Opposite is the church. A nice place for a rest. The tourist information also sells Hornburger Landbier, although no longer with Hornburger hops, those days are long gone.

Hornburg Castle, the town's landmark, was originally a border castle of the Halberstadt diocese. Suitger von Morsleben und Hornburg was born here in 1005, and in 1046 he became Pope Clement II as Bishop of Bamberg. The castle was destroyed for the first time in 1113, and again by Henry the Lion in 1179. It was from here that Barbarossa marched into battle against Henry the Lion in 1181. The castle was destroyed a third time in 1430. It was subsequently expanded again into a fortress and had seven corner towers, a keep and three ring walls.

A very impressive monument that you should take in in peace and quiet. The place is also very well chosen with a wonderful all-round view of the beautiful landscape. There is also a bench for a rest. Everything just fits. A real highlight!!!

Good cycle path on the B79, as long as you are still in Lower Saxony.

I always get goosebumps when I can just drive through places like this where there used to be nowhere else to go. The cycle path is still usable in Lower Saxony, but in Saxony-Anhalt you switch to the road early. Unless you really want some kind of time travel experience ;-)

Next to the descent is the sculpture "Sola Gratia". It is part of a project by the Evangelical Church for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and was created by the sculptor Magnus Klein-Tebbe. It belongs to a cycle with three other sculptures: Sola Scriptura in Salzgitter-Lesse, Solus Christus in Braunschweig-Bienrode and Sola Fide in Hornburg Sculpture unveiled in Groß Denkte | Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig

No bike path but a decent but busy road. In addition, there is a short (a few hundred meters) decent climb here (gradient approx. 6%). At the roundabout you have the choice of where to continue: Ahlum, Wolfenbüttel or Atzum.

This bike path is a must on the B79. He is also quite OK, albeit a bit narrow and sometimes bumpy. Roots and cracks perpendicular to the direction of travel. The usual. In the direction of Gr. Denke finally goes down again properly, so caution is advised here. But the view south towards the Harz Mountains is nice, albeit dependent on the weather.
