Cavalo is a high hill town at 600 meters above sea level. The territory of Cavalo has been inhabited since ancient times with traces of the Bronze Age found in the Castello district. The old church of Cavalo saw the discovery, under the floor, of a Roman votive stele dedicated to the goddess Lualda. The church dedicated to San Zeno is from a later period, but remodeled in several parts.

Just outside the town of Fumane, on the top of a hill, stands the small sanctuary of the Madonna de la Salette, built in 1864 as a sign of gratitude by the people of Fumane in response to a devastating disease that had affected their lives. The construction of the sanctuary was inspired by a preacher friar who told them about the apparition of the Madonna in France and the invitation to build a sacred place in her honor.
