The Nonnweiler Dam is the largest drinking water reservoir in Saarland and a popular tourist destination. A beautiful circular trail leads directly along the water, offering magnificent views of the reservoir. Especially in summer, the tranquil surroundings invite you to relax and enjoy nature. The Nonnweiler Dam serves a variety of purposes, from drinking water supply and cooling water for the Bexbach power plant to electricity generation using jet turbines and, last but not least, as a local recreation area. The circular path around the dam is approximately 11 km long, of which approximately 2 km are also used by the Saarland Cycle Route.
