The salt warehouses are located on the Upper Trave, directly next to the Holsten Gate. They were built between 1579 and 1745. They are a group of warehouses in the Brick Renaissance style. The warehouses are located on Lübeck's Upper Trave, directly next to the Holsten Gate. Until 1839, the warehouse closest to the Holsten Gate was owned by the "Oldesloe Saltworks." This is indicated by a relief in the clinker brick of the facade. Originally, the warehouse buildings were used to store salt brought from Lüneburg via the Old Salt Road and later via the Stecknitz Canal, as well as salt extracted from the Oldesloe Saltworks and brought by barges on the Trave. This salt was exported from Lübeck throughout Scandinavia as the basis of its wealth at the time. The salt was primarily used to preserve fish caught in Norway and Scania, thus enabling the herring trade with the inland regions as a Lenten food. The location on Lübeck's oldest bridge, the so-called Holstentor Bridge, marked the boundary between the seaport and the inland port in the Middle Ages, with its connection to the Elbe River via the Stecknitz Canal. I like St. Mary's Church. But I don't pay admission. Everyone should be able to stay in a place of worship. I think it's pretty cheeky to charge admission to visit a church.

Not that Herrnburg is nice to look at here, but it is a good place to cycle. Hopefully the bikes won't be forced onto the footpath.

12월 13, 2022, Rehder Bridge, Lübeck
The approximately 270 meter long Rehderbrücke is located on the south-eastern edge of the old town island. It begins as an extension of Krähenstrasse at the intersection with An der Mauer and runs east through the Lübeck ramparts, crossing the Elbe-Lübeck Canal (here called Kanaltrave) on the bridge structure that gives it its name, until it meets Hüxtertorallee and in passes over Moltkestraße. At the corner of An der Mauer, a bunker in the form of a Lübeck fortification tower is reminiscent of the Second World War. On the other side of the street, the Wakenitz culvert ends with its inlet into the Krähenteich and the associated control house. The road and bridge were not built until 1935/36 and opened to traffic on July 8, 1936 in order to create a better connection between the districts of St. Jürgen and St. Gertrud and the city center, since until then the Hüxterdamm was the only road connecting the old town to the east represented. The original name Horst-Wessel-Brücke was replaced by the name Neue Hüxtertorbrücke in 1945, but the name was changed again in 1946 in honor of the engineer Peter Rehder, who made a name for himself in various projects relating to Lübeck's waterways and the plans for the Elbe-Lübeck channel had developed. The actual bridge structure is under monument protection. www..wikipedia.org/wiki/Rehderbr%C3%BCcke
