Saluzzo, the ancient capital of the Marquisate, is a medieval Piedmontese village located at the foot of Monviso. Its historic center fascinates with cobbled streets, suggestive squares, narrow stairways, ancient churches and elegant noble palaces with well-kept gardens. Saluzzo could not miss a monument to one of its most famous citizens in the world, Silvio Pellico. It is located in Corso Italia, in a beautiful cycle/pedestrian stretch full of shops and clubs.

The ancient village of Saluzzo is gorgeous. Narrow cobbled streets between historic buildings lead up to Castilla, the fortress/castle that towers over the city, a bit like the Spielberg towers over Brno (ironically). A must visit.

For over four centuries, Saluzzo was the capital of the marquisate of the same name and is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Piedmont and a bishopric. At the foot of Monviso, at the mouth of the Po, Bronda and Varaita valleys, lies the Monviso Park. Saluzzo offers its visitors a rich program of cultural and sporting events and the historic city center is definitely worth a visit, with its countless bars and restaurants offering something for everyone.
