I climbed to Montemale from Dronero. It is a 3.5 km climb with an average gradient of 8% and more than 1 km with a gradient of 9%. It is a demanding climb, on a wide road in perfect condition. The Fauniera refuge is located just 3 km from the top of the pass, going up the Val Grana slope (Pradleves), and right next to the Colle Esischie.
