This sinkhole is surrounded like a crown by selenite "candles".

The Buca di Budriolo is a deep blind valley, formed near extremely inclined chalky layers, a natural wonder. From here, you will be able to enjoy a spectacular panorama from the opposite side of the hole.

Buca delle Candele is so named for the furrows produced by water erosion in the karst rock.

Place with a lunar aspect; you can go up from via Montebello avoiding the barrier; as can be seen from the sign, the concession expired in 2015, but the prohibition signs remain; looking at the clearing from above you can see how the hill has been completely eaten away by mining activities. The road from via Montebello to the quarry has acceptable gradients in the first part, a little less afterwards, it is rather bumpy but with a gravel surface, probably doable even in the wet, but once you reach the quarry it sinks into the clay

I was able to visit the cave thanks to the initiative of the Eastern Emilia Parks Authority and the support of the speleological guides of Bologna. I found it a very special and interesting experience .. and also fun between crawling in some places and some muddy slides to do downhill and uphill I therefore feel I can recommend it to both adults and children, especially them 😊 The guides were then really good and told the story of the cave and its various evolutions without ever getting bored.

Buca del Budriolo It is a deep blind valley, which developed in contact with very inclined chalky layers; on the bottom there is the sinkhole for access to the Calindri cave (another protected cave). 3월 21, 2022, Grotta del Farneto
The Farneto area ... is today best known for the cave that bears the same name: it was discovered in 1871 by Francesco Orsoni, who began the first, important archaeological research. In the 1960s Luigi Fantini, in a natural shelter created by a protruding layer, found some burials attributable to the Copper Age (the finds are exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Bologna). Shaken by quarry work, the entire outcrop and the cave remained inaccessible for years due to a landslide that blocked the entrance, until the implementation of a recovery and safety intervention that finally allowed its redevelopment and reopening to the public in 2008. Near the "Palestrina", an ancient quarry front perhaps from the Roman era, on the steep walls of a sinkhole located within a wooded spot, the runoff has produced evident and spectacular vertical furrows with a shower section known as "candle erosions ”. It is the largest sinkhole of the whole Bolognese gypsum complex (the diameter exceeds 700 m) and includes smaller sinkholes and numerous sinkholes, which lead to as many caves. 11월 20, 2021, Grotta della Spipola
The entrance to the Grotta della Spipola, located at an altitude of 135 m on the bottom of the sinkhole of the same name, is largely artificial: it was built by the Bolognese Speleological Group in 1936, during the works carried out to safeguard the cavity from recurrent vandalisms. The natural entrance (Bus d'la Speppla or Buco del Calzolaio), through which Luigi Fantini and other speleologists of the GSB, descending two wells, entered the Spipola for the first time, is located a little higher (at an altitude of 165 m). This access was blocked as soon as the lower, more comfortable and secure one became available. The protection of the cave lasted until 1940. Since then, for more than fifty years, the Spipola suffered continuous disfigurements, partly due to its use as a refuge during the last war, but caused above all by occasional visitors. The current closure was carried out in 1995 by GSB-USB on behalf of the Park, which took care of the reclamation and some modest adaptation of the entire tourist route according to the indications of the Italian Speleological Society regarding the reduction of the environmental impact. The Grotta del Farneto is one of the most well-known and important prehistoric settlements in the Bolognese area. It can only be visited with a guided tour ( http://www.parks.it/parco.gessi.bolognesi/man.php ) In any case, it is worth a visit (even if it is closed ). The fresh air that comes out of it provides a bit of relief from the summer heat.

Well, it can be reached from via Montebello after a nice tear. The landscape around is beautiful, you will find it on an artificial esplanade, a clay plateau .. continue and you will find a ramp on the right. If you don't have an e-bike or a good leg trained with the right gears, get ready to climb it on foot. His friend Luca obviously did it with the muscular XC carbon front ... but he is on another level

It is located in the plaster park above the bridge. The gypsum rocks are vertically cracked and in fact give the idea of "candles". This at least seen from the outside but as soon as I have the opportunity to go deeper I will update the comment. It is a destination for hikers so always pay attention ....
