The climb to Colle della Maddalena from Borgo San Dalmazzo is a very long climb (about 50 km for 1350 m of altitude difference), but it is mostly on a slight slope along the Stura Valley. The actual climb is in the last 7-8 km after Argentera, with regular gradients (6-7%). It is often passable even in winter as it is an important pass between Italy and France.
