Natural waterfalls on the Topino river near Cannara

Cannara is a small village central to Assisi, Spello, Bevagna and Torgiano, known to the Umbrians for its famous onion, with a very famous festival attached. The village is beautiful, especially the Church of San Biagio is notable, the roads to get there are all pleasant and easy to cycle on, surrounded by greenery

Founded in the 3rd century BC. it exercised a control function on the road network and served as a transit center for goods. Worth mentioning is the archaeological site immediately outside the village walls

It is part of the Assisi Spoleto cycle path; On this stretch, which is asphalted and has a road surface that is not excessively wide, it is possible to encounter some vehicles, so be careful

Cannara, an enchanting village in the heart of the Umbrian plain along the Topino river, offers picturesque views of the slopes of Mount Subasio to the east, with Assisi and Spello on its sides. To the west, the top of Mount Le Cinque Querce stands out. The name of Cannara is a tribute to the reed beds that once adorned the marshy areas along the Topino.

The cycle route has only a couple of crossings of ordinary roads in the Spoleto Bevagna section, then it develops on paved and dirt roads also used by motor vehicles. However, it is rare to encounter cars and motorbikes.
