Bunker former Hahn Air Base

A columned hall as a war memorial for the fallen soldiers of the First and Second World Wars.

Beautiful tree-lined avenue between Lötzbeuren and the Scholmunderhof with panoramic views of the landscape and benches.

Enchanted by the sound of the lyre several centuries ago and rooted in the rock - the thick-skinned figure on the historical Leiermannspfad between Lötzbeuren and the Ahringsbach. During the late afternoon hours it comes out of its hiding place in the sunshine and shows itself in all its beauty. The hiking trail around Büchelbeuren also consists partly of a short hiking path. This hiking trail can be extended to Niederweiler and back.

https://www.lautzenhausen-hunsrueck.de First mentioned in documents in 1260, Lautzenhausen experienced extreme development with the construction of the US Hahn Air Base in 1952! At its peak, there were up to 13,000 people at Hahn Air Base. This left painful traces after the air base was abandoned in 1993. Hahn Airport was never able to compensate for this, currently around 2,000 people are employed in and around the airport!

You can still explore numerous bunkers at the US Hahn Air Base today. Large areas outside of Hahn Airport are freely accessible. The bunkers for the F-16A and the protective walls for the exhaust jet are particularly interesting!
