Mount Genzana (2,170 m above sea level) is a mountain in the Abruzzo Apennines, belonging to the Marsicani Mountains group, located in the province of L'Aquila in lower Abruzzo, between the municipalities of Pettorano sul Gizio, Scanno, and Introdacqua. The route is sometimes technical; you'll encounter scree and rocks, and in some places the trail is not visible. Despite this, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view! A windbreaker is a must for the descent, as temperatures drop quickly in cloudy weather.

The Pelino bivouac is one of the most famous bivouacs, if not the bivouac, in the Apennines. It is spartan and essential: eight wooden planks on which to place the mattress and spend an unforgettable night at an altitude of 2,700 metres. There are few places from which you can see the sun rise over the Adriatic and set over the Tyrrhenian Sea. A unique place that is worth all the effort to reach it.

The great Monte Mileto, a pearl of the Majella National Park. It can also be reached by bicycle from Passo San Leonardo.

The San Leonardo pass, at an altitude of 1,282 metres, connects Pacentro to Sant'Eufemia a Majella. The pass offers wonderful views of the Majella and Mount Morrone. The San Leonardo pass is an excellent base for excursions, among which the so-called direct route that leads to the summit of Monte Amaro stands out. The Orta river flows from the San Leonardo pass.

Passo di San Leonardo is an enchanting place suspended between Monte Morrone and Majella, where the beauty of nature reigns supreme. The colors that can be admired in autumn here are truly unique. It's one of the best seasons to visit (although it's a show all year round). The vivid colors of the leaves, together with the deep red of the sunset, create a rare and wonderful sight.

Mountain peaks in the Majello Group (Abruzzo) with a magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea, among others. Very worthwhile ski tour from Passo Leonardo. At the top is the Bivaco Pelino.

The climb to the San Leonardo da Tocco da Casauria pass is truly spectacular. In the final stretch, a serpentine of curves opens up the view to the Majella massif and its highest peak, Monte Amaro. Passo San Leonado is the gateway to the great plateaus of Abruzzo and offers ample space for a night bivouac.

Monte Amaro is located at 2,793 meters, and is the highest peak in the Maiella National Park. The climb is challenging, especially if you choose to undertake the climb from Fara S. Martino – in this case there are 2,400 meters of altitude difference to tackle, the highest in the entire Apennine chain (to be tackled only by experts and professionals). Going up it is possible to spot the Abruzzo chamois, and around the month of September you can also hear the roars of the deer.

The place deserves to be visited clearly for its beauty, but also for the discreet ease in completing it

After a moderate climb it is pleasant to stop in a suitable place for refreshment and rest. Here we will be able to rest our gaze on the Monte Amaro massif on one side and Monte Morrone in front. A small church reminds us that friar Pietro Angelerio da Morrone, the future Pope and Saint Celestine V, lived in that place for years.

The San Leonardo pass is located at an altitude of 1280 meters in the Maiella group. The pass is very scenic and is located in a large green basin. I recommend it to cycling enthusiasts.

Passo San Leonardo belongs to the area of Majella National Park. It is an excellent starting point for climbs; in particular through the Rava Giumenta Bianca [1] (the so-called "direct") is possible to reach Monte Amaro (m.2795), the highest peak of Majella. The road has a pleasant slope from Pacentro to the pass and was already used by the Romans.
