The church in Vuiteboef stands on the edge of the village, on a slight rise. From the church, you have a beautiful panoramic view stretching all the way to the Alps. A sign above the entrance indicates that the church was built in 1904.

Cozy self-check-in hotel in Vallorbe. We stayed there on our long-distance hike from Tarifa (Spain) to Switzerland and can highly recommend the hotel.

Located on the road linking Lausanne to Pontarlier (Franche-Comté) via the Jougne pass, Lignerolle occupies a privileged position; mentioned only from 1165, the village must in fact have existed for a long time already.

The old church of Saint-Vit, probably built in the 9th century, is attested by documents from 1228. The choir was covered with a ribbed vault around 1400. The western portal and the ribbed vaults of the nave were built in the third quarter of the 15th century. Addition of the south chapel of the choir in the first third of the 16th century. On the fourth bay of the nave, the bell tower was built around the middle of the 16th century, it was raised in 1696 by Daniel Thiébaud, then again in 1741. Creation of new windows in the 18th century. Restoration 1950-1952. Stained glass window from 1952 by Jean Gagnebin.

Ballaigues is a picturesque commune where nature and mountains meet. It is the birthplace of historian and politician Paul Maillefer (1862-1929) and the final resting place of painter and violinist Louis Soutter (1871-1941). The altitude varies between 920 meters and 1,104 meters above sea level. Ballaigues has a mountain climate, characterized by harsh winters and high precipitation throughout the year.

The Roman road in Ballaigues is a historic route that is part of the extensive network of roads built by the Romans. This road was an important connecting route between various settlements in the region. Traces of this ancient road can still be seen in Ballaigues, including parts of the original road surface and some Roman artefacts found along the route.
