6월 30, 2024, Piening Schmiede Metallbau Sculptures, Seester
Harald Piening, a farrier from Seester, has invested many hours of work and spent a lot of time welding countless old horseshoes together. The result is very special works of art that attract the attention of passers-by. For over 40 years, the master blacksmith has been working iron in his workshop over the fire of his forge, which can reach temperatures of up to 1,400°C. He builds farm gates, ship accessories and rose arches and shoes the hooves of sport and leisure horses with new horseshoes. And Piening always finds time for artistic sculptures such as spider webs or a blacksmith with hammer and anvil. http://www.seester.de/news/1/453653/nachrichten/ein-pferd-aus-1.000-hufeisen.html

The Seester Heinr. Lüders Inn The first documented mention dates back to 1864, when Hinrich Thormählen, originally from Raa, was listed as "innkeeper and hawker". His son Johannes Thormählen sold the business in 1903 to Heinrich "Hein" Lüders, who came from Steindeich (Kollmar). The inn, which was located directly next to St. Johannes Church, was also connected to a large, two-story hall building on the other side of the street. During the construction of the new school in 1912, school lessons were also held in Lüders' hall for several months. In addition to the inn, Heinrich Lüders also ran a pig farm and traded in grist. In the small shop, the hawker's shop, there were not only groceries but also everyday goods. The Lüder's inn was predestined for funeral ceremonies due to its location right next to the church. When the mourners returned from the cemetery, they went straight to the "beautiful

6월 30, 2024, Kurzenmoor Lock
Between the Wischer lock and the Sonnendeich lock was the Kurzenmoor lock, which was called the "Kortemohr lock" in 1702, the "Kurtzen Mohrer lock" (1764) or the "new lock". This was a lock that was apparently built later and drained the western part of the Deichwettern and the Dorfwettern. The dyke map from 1764 contains cross-sectional drawings of the sluices on the Seesterau dyke. In it, the Kurzenmoor lock is referred to as the "stone lock", which means that the sluice structure was already made of clinker bricks at that time. This sluice was repaired in 1899. The Kurzenmoor lock was enlarged and lowered in 1901 with a massive brick structure, as the water level in the Wettern had dropped significantly following the commissioning of the steam pumping station in 1895 and the sluice was in danger of becoming unusable. The Kurzenmoor lock was finally shut down after the new pumping station was completed in 1956. http://www.seester.de/ortsgeschichte/schleusekurzenmoor

St. John's Church was first mentioned in documents in 1223. The church that can be seen today was built in 1428 or shortly before. It was originally only half as big and was later expanded to its current size. Multiple renovations and repairs (on a larger scale in 1844 and 1888/89) gave the church its current appearance. The interior is remarkable. The baroque altar, one of the most beautiful in Holstein, was donated by local farmers in 1631, in the middle of the Thirty Years' War. Scenes from the life and death of Jesus are shown on six panels in beautiful, rustic-looking carvings. Above them you can see Moses with the tablets of the law and John the Baptist, with a picture of the resurrection in between. The pulpit, carved in transitional forms from the Renaissance to the Baroque, also dates from 1631. It shows Jesus, Matthew with the angel, Luke with the bull, Mark with the lion and John with the eagle. In the middle of the aisle there is a Lazarus figure as an offering box. The poor block probably dates from 1613, the Lazarus figure probably from 1656-1661, when the poor block, which was damaged during the Thirty Years' War, was repaired. The old organ behind the altar is no longer playable; the new organ was built by the Danish company Marcussen and consecrated in 1968. On the southeast wall is the box for the family of the Counts of Kielmannsegg, followed by further boxes. The free-standing bell tower was already mentioned in a wood invoice at the end of the 16th century. The wood has of course been renewed several times. In addition to the bell tower, there was also a tower for a time, but it was destroyed in 1628 and not rebuilt. The large bell was cast in 1668, the small one as a replacement for previous ones after the Second World War. The church is surrounded by the old cemetery, which is surrounded by 120-year-old linden trees. With its large number of relatively well-preserved gravestones from the 18th and 19th centuries, it is an outstanding cultural monument. https://www.kirche-hamburg.de/gemeinden/ev-luth-kirchengemeinde-seester/st-johanneskirche.html

1월 17, 2024, Gastwirtschaft und Saal Lüders
As early as 1864, old documents mentioned Hinrich Thormählen, who ran an inn right next to the Seesteraner church with an attached “Hökerei”, a shop for groceries and everyday items. His son Johannes finally handed the business over to Heinrich “Hein” Lüders, who came from Steindeich (Kollmar), in 1903. The inn also had a large, two-story hall building on the opposite side of the street. Due to its location right next to the church, the Lüder'sche Inn was often used for funeral ceremonies. But the house was also well attended before and after the Sunday services. Because the footpaths were often undeveloped at the time, it was customary for the villagers to exchange their dirty shoes for shoes they had brought with them that had been polished to a high shine before going to church and to put on their everyday shoes again for the way back. The inn was exactly the right place for this, as it also offered a fortifying grog in winter and a cold beer in summer. But family celebrations, singing balls, school festivals and the monthly meetings of the local council also took place near Lüders for a long time and the village's volunteer fire department was founded here in 1912. After the Second World War, Erna Thies and her husband Wilhelm took over the business from her mother Regine Lüders, but after 1960 they concentrated on hawking, while the restaurant lost its importance and the hall building fell into disrepair. In 1971, the Seester parish decided to purchase the restaurant and hall, first renovating the restaurant and later also the hall building. The old restaurant was initially converted into a children's playroom and church office and later expanded into a kindergarten. The hall is still available for church and private celebrations and events. (Source: Shield)

1월 17, 2024, Kurzenmoor Lock
The Kurzenmoor lock was mentioned in records as early as 1702 as the “Kortenmohr Schlüse” or “Neue Schleuse” and was located north-east of today's pumping station on the Seesterau dike. The name did not refer to the location of the lock, but rather to the area to be drained and thus to the name of the so-called “Schleusencommüne”, whose legal successor today is the Sielverband. In 1764 the lock was called the “Stone Lock”. The sluice was already made of clinker bricks at that time. Due to the construction and commissioning of the new steam pumping station in 1895, the nearby "Wischer Schleuse" lost its function and was closed. The Kurzenmoorer Schleuse, on the other hand, was enlarged again with a massive clinker brick building and made deeper in order to be able to continue to perform its function. The Wisch-Kurzenmoor lock community emerged from the Wisch and Kurzenmoor lock communities. Unfortunately, the performance of the steam pumping station did not meet the high expectations. Even the replacement of the steam engine with a powerful diesel engine in the 1920s could not change this. In 1955/56 a new pumping station was built right next to the steam pumping station, the buildings of which have been preserved to this day. The lock was shut down in 1965 after the new Kurzenmoor pumping station* was completed. (Source: Shield)

The Evangelical Lutheran St. John's Church in Seester, Schleswig-Holstein, is a patron church of the Uetersen Monastery. St. Johannes only became Protestant in 1555 because the Uetersen monastery had refused to follow the Danish king's order for the Reformation until then. (Source: Wikipedia)
