The gorges of the Gaggiolo Torrent cut the upper part of the Meride Limestone called Kalkschieferzone, composed of finely stratified limestones and marl, forming a spectacular waterfall

Chapel of Sant'Uberto alla Cascina (900 m.s.m.) At the end of the eighteenth century, the farmhouse that existed in the clearing called Alla Cascina on the path to San Giorgio burned down. In 1952, a group of volunteers from Meride took the decision to build a chapel (with refuge) dedicated to Sant'Uberto, an enclosure inaugurated on 19 June 1953. Later, the chapel was donated to the Parish of Meride

Exposed to the elements, the small sacred enclosure needed a new restoration in 1933. The current fresco is the work of the painter Clemente Nesurini da Gnosca (1934, Virgin and Child, Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Anthony the Abbot).

Antonio Abate, protector of domestic animals and providential miracle worker for Herpes zoster (St. Anthony's fire). The geographical position of the Chapel in Següree, where rye was grown, is significant. It was refurbished in 1850 with a new fresco by the painter Antonio Rinaldi da Tremona (commissioned by the Della Casa family).

It is located in the Següree area of Meride. A first chapel dedicated to Sant'Antonio Abate, built in the fifteenth century, is already mentioned in the first documents of the Vicinia in Archivio (from 1548), a center of devotion and popular festival in the month of January.

The panoramic terrace of Val Mara is immersed in the woods, just above the Gaggiolo stream, in one of the most evocative panoramic points of Monte San Giorgio.
