Tahal Castle, nestled in the Sierra de los Filabres, was built in the 15th and 16th centuries to control the routes between the Almanzora Valley and Tabernas. Although it remains in a state of consolidated ruin today, its large rectangular keep, with its elevated entrance and masonry walls, is still impressive. Next to it, you can see the remains of a circular tower, the walled enclosure, and a cistern that provided water in the event of a siege. Freely accessible, it is an interesting place to combine history and hiking in this part of Almería.

Íllar is a southern Spanish village and municipality (municipio) in the province of Almería with 460 inhabitants (as of 2024).

The Cabo de Gata Salt Flats are a group of wetlands located in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, in the province of Almería, Andalusia. These salt flats have a surface area of approximately 300 hectares and are the only salt flat in eastern Andalusia.

The village with about 700 inhabitants is situated on the river, in a beautiful place surrounded by large rocks and hills that, together with the white houses of Arab origin in terraces and the orchards, form a beautiful sight. The parish church is worth mentioning.
