The great heroes and explorers of this region.

This is great fun! A great shark's fin of rock, rising at right angles to to main ridge right at the very top of Sgurr Dearg. The rock is sound and grippy, but you do need a head for heights as in places the ridge you are climbing is only about a foot wide. As you can imagine, the views from the top are sensational! The way down is to abseil straight down the shorter vertical side, with your rope attached to the massive boulder at the top of the pinnacle. You won't forget this experience!

The life-size bronze statue was commissioned and unveiled in September 2020 at a ceremony at the site next to the Sligachan Hotel. The location marks the route to the Trust-managed Glen Sligachan, a path Mackenzie walked thousands of times in his work as a hotel pony boy and later as Scotland’s first professional mountain guide.

9월 7, 2024, Collie and Mackenzie Statue
A fitting tribute to the mountaineers of the Isle of Skye. Mackenzie was born in Sconser in 1856 and was a keen explorer as a boy, climbing the famous Sgùrr nan Gillean at the age of ten. By the time he met the climber and scientist Professor Collie in 1886, he was already an established guide and had made numerous first ascents. Despite their very different backgrounds, the two became good friends and pioneered many of the technically challenging routes in the Cuillin Mountains that are still enjoyed by mountaineers today.

A beautiful mountain tarn that sits just below the Cuillin Ridge. It can be easily accessed by walking from the Glen Brittle campsite, with a few bits of easy scrambling towards the end. It takes around an-hour-and-a half-hour to get there. For those looking to get amongst the mountains without climbing them, this is a great option.

4월 30, 2024, An Stac Ridge
An Stac is an incredibly steep and committing scramble that should not be underestimated. It's very exposed and has no escape routes. With this said, it is an awesome route that, when dry, should not be missed by avid scramblers.

The final summit of the Cuillin Ridge (or the first, depending on direction). Also an awesome mountain to climb in its own right, plenty of epic climbs and scrambles to get you to the top.

11월 15, 2023, Sligachan Old Bridge
The Sligachan Old Bridge is a historic and scenic bridge over the River Sligachan on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The bridge was built between 1810 and 1818 by the famous engineer Thomas Telford. The bridge has three arches, the middle one being the largest, and a distinctive hump over the central arch. The bridge is only accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, because a new bridge for car traffic has been built next to it.

The Cuillen Range is a world famous mountain range on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The mountain range consists of two parts: the Black Cuillin and the Red Cuillin, which are separated by Glen Sligachan. The scenic beauty of the Cuillin has led to it being designated as a National Nature Reserve, one of forty in Scotland. A Scottish Natural Heritage assessment of the special qualities of the Cuillin stated: The mountains rise dramatically from the sea, creating formidable, enclosed sea lochs, the lack of foothills enhancing their enormous scale. Many iconic views of Scotland are centered here, whether it's Sgùrr nan Gillean rising above Sligachan, Loch Scavaig and the Cuillin ridge from Elgol, or Bla Bheinn above Torrin

11월 15, 2023, Collie and Mackenzie Statue
The Collie and Mackenzie statue pays tribute to two pioneers of mountaineering in the Cuillin Hills on the Isle of Skye. The statue was created by local artist Stephen Tinney and was cast in bronze at a foundry in Ireland. The statue shows Professor Norman Collie, a scientist and one of the first discoverers of the Cuillin, standing next to John Mackenzie, a crofter and one of the first guides of the Cuillin, sitting on a boulder. There is also a bronze relief map showing the hills near the main statue. The statue was unveiled in Glen Sligachan on September 25, 2020, after 17 years of planning and fundraising by a group of volunteers. The statue aims to tell the story of the friendship and respect between the crofter and the chemist, and to celebrate the appeal of the Cuillin to climbers from all over the world.

11월 12, 2023, Sgùrr nan Gillean
The immense rocky pyramid of Sgùrr nan Gillean is one of Scotland's great mountains, an icon of the Black Cuillin. First climbed by Duncan Macintyre and James Forbes on 7th July 1836, it's a superb objective. It's traditionally the last Munro on the Cuillin Traverse, with climbers ascending via the Moderate graded West Ridge. The easiest way up is the South East Ridge, a grade three scramble that is nicknamed to (perhaps unwisely) as the Tourist Route. Another classic line to the summit is the Pinnacle Ridge, a wonderfully adventurous climb.
