Curving around Arran’s eastern coastline, Sannox Beach borders its namesake village and is surrounded by formidable mountains.

There's a beautiful single track road hidden beside the main road. Great on a gravel bike with a couple of areas to take care on (slower speed should suffice)

An awesome glacial U-shaped valley to the west of Goatfell and surrounded by brilliant mountains. There is a good trail down the middle and if it's warm enough plenty of good swimming spots. Brilliant to run down, nice to run up but best as a descent.

Sannox Bay has fantastic views of the Bay and beyond. Sannox Bay Hotel is currently undergoing rennovation but should be open in the next year or so (written on 08/12/22) making it the perfect spot to stop for a dip and a drink.

High speed forest road descent, whats not to like!

As roads go, this is a good one! With a steady gradient (especially to a mountain bike with a granny gear!) it is an enjoyable climb with beautiful views of the island.

Lochranza is the most northerly village on the Isle of Arran and is located on the northwest end of the island. The village is said to have the fewest hours of sunshine of any village in the UK. It is also reputed that it is the most shaded village in the world due it lieing in a northern facing glen with a particularly high quantity of rainfall. Best to visit on a summers day! With a population of only 200, wildlife flourishes on the island. Around Lochranza castle you are likely to spot red deer and on the north shore there are grey seals year round. Otters and golden eagles are also regularly seen in the area. The Arran distillery is based in Lochranza, producing Arran Single Malt. Along with tourism the distillery is one of the main industries on the island. At the Lochranza hotel there is said to be one of the largest collections of Scotch Whiskey in the country, with more than 350 different drams to try! Lochranza castle is a beautiful ruin of a 16th century castle with an interesting history. In 1614 it was taken over by the king and used by Oliver Cromwell!
