Basically a very nice tour. Unfortunately, everything is pretty run down. Apparently, nobody cares anymore. It's a real shame, considering the trails and their highlights were once funded with bingo money. You practically need a machete to get through and protect yourself from the nettles, some of which are as tall as a man. Of course, it's a paradise for wildlife 👍

Update June 2025: This trail is no longer worth the effort. Many signs are illegible or broken, and apart from the trees, which are difficult to disperse, we haven't found a single one of the named plants.

I knew that one from when freight trains still ran there! It's the old "rubber track," so called because the tracks rocked so much on the boggy ground. There was also a bridge over the road for a long time, but it gradually fell into disrepair and was therefore demolished decades ago. Likewise, right next to the track, where a wooden house now stands, stood a "Nodding Horse" for oil and gas extraction by "Brigitta-Elverrath." That too is gone. The old motor mill was also demolished. The pub owner (the large white house, formerly Duwe) disposed of his chained dog in the cistern, and the fire department was able to retrieve it weeks later.

Currently (April 2025), the boardwalk no longer exists, the rest of the path is overgrown, and the small fishing pit and the entire surrounding area are severely dried out. It's a shame, as a few years ago, sundew and other plants thrived here. I hope there are plans to renovate this nature reserve to complement the beautiful areas around the large fishing pit and the new wetlands.

The fountain didn't speak for me either and the QR code didn't work either. Still, it was a nice round.

Very nice (not suitable for strollers)

The Bollenhagen Moorwald, the largest contiguous forest area in the Wesermarsch, has been planted with site-appropriate mixed deciduous forest since 2008 and is located in a former floodplain area of the Jade. A new, formerly agriculturally used area of oak, birch and willow bushes is being created around a 150-year-old mixed oak forest. This is replacing areas that are being lost in Wilhelmshaven due to the designation of commercial areas. The "BollWerk" exploration station in a former construction trailer with a small exhibition and a "green classroom" on rustic benches in the open air is a meeting and information point. A boardwalk over a wet meadow and a treetop tower opened in 2014 offer space for nature observation.
