The abandoned monastery of Profitis Ilias near Lythrodonta is picturesquely situated on a hill in the Kionia mountains. Unfortunately, the buildings are no longer used or inhabited. However, there is a picnic area and a drinking fountain.

The monastery of St. Herakleidios is now a convent. A new church was built above, with a cemetery for the ladies. The two sarcophagi of Herakleidion and Mnason stand in the old church. Herakleidion was the first Bishop of Tamassós, after a baptism in 45 by Paul on his missionary journey. Herakleidion was martyred in the Tamassós market square. Unfortunately, no photographs are allowed in the monastery church. The reason is the prohibition of flashing light.
