A lookout tower built entirely of wood with separate ascent and descent (corona-compliant 😉). Phenomenal view, highly recommended when the weather is clear!

In the 19th century the villa 'L’Hermitage ’was owned by a banker, whose family donated the house to the city in 1976. A foundation was set up to restore, preserve and make known the building. It should hold two to three art exhibitions a year, which began in 1984. Since then, over two million visitors have visited around 80 exhibitions and around 1000 objects of art have been collected, around 400 of which can be seen in a permanent exhibition. https://www.fondation-hermitage.ch Occasionally, objects are also exhibited in the park that surrounds the villa.

Nice vantage point that can also be visited when it rains. Access to the tower is free. In very bad weather, however, the entrance can be closed.

The Villa Hermitage, located on a hill above the city, was built between 1850 and 1853 by the Lausanne banker Charles-Juste Bugnion on a site that he had acquired in 1841. The plans for the classical building were created by the architect Louis Wenger. The villa is in a park with rare tree species. In 1976, the Bugnion family donated the house to the city. A foundation was established with the purpose of restoring, preserving and promoting the building. She was also supposed to hold two to three exhibitions of fine arts every year. The first exhibition in 1984 dealt with impressionism in collections of the Romandie. Since then, over two million visitors have visited around 80 exhibitions. There have been monographic exhibitions (including Bonnard, Baselitz, Giacometti, Hopper, Magritte, Miro, Monet), thematic exhibitions (on pointillism, futurism, English watercolors, Spanish painting of the late 19th century and modernism, the window in Western art), public (museums from Barcelona, Lyon, Athens, Montpellier) or private collections (Gould, Vineyard, Planque, Hahnloser, Bonna).
