The correct name would be "Hardtwald". The Homburg municipal forest extends up to the Taunus ridge. And part of the Hardtwald belongs to Friedrichsdorf.

1851 by Landgrave Ferdinand of Hesse-Homburg (1783-1866) in memory of the freedom flag donated by his brother Gustav (1781-1848) to the Seulberg riflemen in 1848. The "Seulberg Shooting" has a centuries-old tradition and is first documented in 1524. The annual freedom shooting dates back to this time. The dedication text is framed in an oval shape by two laurel garlands that are embossed and, like the writing, also gilded: "In memory of the flag consecration that took place on September 3rd, 1848, to which reverent gratitude is attached for the noble, sovereign Landgrave Gustav of Hesse and His Highness, who now rests in God."
